Dull Marble Vanity Top Stain

by Jan
(St. George, UT)

QUESTION:

I spilled strong toilet cleaner on my marble countertop. Before I saw it and cleaned it off it had left two dull spots where the cleaner touched the marble. I can't tell if it etched the marble or just took the shine. Is there a way to repair this?

ANSWER:

Sounds like you caught it pretty quick before the cleaner had time to etch the marble severely. If the surface still feels smooth, but is just dull then it's a mild case of etching and... you are probably in luck!

You should be able to get the shine back using a marble polishing powder from Stone Tech Pro, MB Stone Care or maybe your local hardware store.

Marble polishing powders will work for mild etch marks. If after using the powder, the marble is still dull... call a professional.

Good Luck,
Ryan
