Yellow Stain on White Marble Vanity
QUESTION:
Hello, I bought a thassos marble bathroom vanity top around 9 months ago. It's white, and recently i've seen some yellow stains. I was wondering if there was any way to removed these stains, any idea? thank you!
ANSWER:
Many white marble countertops contain iron deposits that can rust upon contact with water causing yellow-orange-brown stains on the surface... most common cause.
This typically happens on floors where water can more easily get trapped and leach through the marble oxidizing the iron which then bleeds to the surface with the water.
Doesn't happen so much on a countertop, because a faucet leak is about the only source of constant water and both sides of the marble countertop are exposed, so difficult to saturate the marble.
Rust stains can be difficult to remove and no product will remove stains from stone. The only method that will work is a bit of a process, but you'll find complete step-by-step instructions in the
Removing Granite & Marble Stains ebook.
Of course, you need to fix any leak or stop any constant source of water to keep it from happening again.
Good Luck,
Ryan
