Water Spots on Marble Bathroom Floors and Countertops
QUESTION:
Is there any cleaning method besides polishing that can remove water spots from the surface?
ANSWER:
If you are talking about spots that appear dull and possibly slightly lighter than the rest of the marble, then you'll need to use
SCP: Marble Polishing Paste to remove them and get the shine back.
These spots are not actually caused by water, but since they don't look like a "stain" from some other substance people often assume they are from water.
"Water spots" and "glass rings" are caused by contact with acidic foods, drinks or products and by using caustic cleaning products that are not meant for marble.
It's called "etching."Etching is corrosion that eats away at the marble removing the top shiny layer to reveal the more dull raw marble beneath.
The marble paste recommended above will restore the shine to mild etch marks. When the damage is severe a marble maintenance professional is required to re-polish and restore the marble, but most etch marks are mild and can be effectively removed with the paste.
Good Luck,
