Sealing Peacock Green Granite

QUESTION:
I have peacock green granite that is a black with green and gold highlights in the background that was installed a year ago.
Do I need to seal. It is in beautiful shape now. I bought some sealer that is very sticky and gummy and hard to use. Are all sealers this way? Can I go without sealing? Thank you.
ANSWER:
Peacock green often does not need sealing, but it could need it. Granite and all stone is a natural product, so even within the same color common characteristics may vary.
But the one tried and true way to determine if you need to seal any stone even if you don't know what type of stone it is is to
water test it.
Perform the test on several areas and you'll have your answer. If you do need to seal, I'd recommend
STONE SENTRY or SenGuard Sealers.
Get rid of whatever gummy/sticky sealer you have. Dispose of it legally and properly (not just in the trash) but certainly don't use it.
Good Luck,
Ryan
