Sealer Residue - Black Galaxy Granite

by Neil
(Toronto, Canada)

QUESTION:

Hello, I applied tile sealer to black galazy granite - unfortunately I didn't read your advice prior to doing so. Although I only let it sit for 5 minutes, I feel that there is now a bit of a hazy, streaky look. You indicated that it can be removed, but is a pain. What suggestions do you have to remove haze and restore the shine?

Thanks in advance

ANSWER:

Methylene chloride (a paint stripper) will take off the granite sealer residue. Yes, it is a noxious solvent. You'll need to protect everything and provide excellent ventilation.

You may have some luck using a fine 0000 grade steel wool pad, but usually methylene chloride is necessary.

You'll find complete instructions on how to strip a granite sealer in the All About Marble & Granite Sealers ebook.

Good Luck,
Ryan

I highly recommend Stone Care Pro Products to maintain all your marble, stone and granite countertops and floors in optimal condition. I've used other good products (Stone Tech, Miracle, MB) but found Stone Care Pro is the most reliable and effective and cheaper too!
