Restoring Marble Polish
QUESTION:
Unfortunately, Mr. Bubbles was used as a cleaner - after only one week - splotching and putting a film on the marble. While it is not totally obvious to others, I would like to be able to correct it if I can and avoid any future damage.
What can I do to restore it to its original beauty and what do I use on a weekly basis to keep it looking good - understanding all the things I now need to do? Please advise...Thanks!!
ANSWER:
To restore the shiny marble may require a professional if severe enough, but this is rare.
The spotting and "film" is actually physical corrosive damage to the polished surface from Mr. Bubbles reacting with the marble.
Frustrating, I'm sure since you just had it installed a week ago (if I understand correctly... or maybe you just bought the house).
Most etching on polished marble can be fixed and the surface restored using the
ETCH REMOVER / Marble polishing paste... easy to use too.
If the etching is severe (rough) then check the phone book and call some local stone warehouses and fabricators and try to find a marble cleaning and maintenance pro with a proven reputation.
In the future, use only specially formulated pH neutral
products safe for cleaning marble with a soft cloth and avoid contact with acidic substances or foods.
Good Luck,
Ryan
