Replacing Faucet On Marble Vanity
QUESTION:
I am replacing a faucet in a bathroom Carrara marble counter top the top is 45 years old and is stained light brown around the old faucet I intend to try a poutice to clean it, but need to know what should I use to seal around the new faucet- plumbers putty or silicone caulking. GLC
ANSWER:
You may just want to consider getting a faucet with a slightly bigger footprint than the old one because that stain could be tough to get out.
But when installing do NOT use plumber's putty. That stuff will stain the marble for sure. And the stain could bleed out from underneath the faucet.
Use 100% clear silicone caulk.
Good Luck,
Ryan
