Removing Marble Vanity Top Stains

QUESTION:

How do I get rid of stains on marble top that has aged?

ANSWER:

Stains are dark spots caused by a substance that has absorbed into the marble below the surface.

Thus, common cleaning techniques using sprays to rub and scrub do not work... they can't get below the surface.

However, marble stains can typically be removed using a multi-step marble maintenance process that varies depending on what stained the marble.

You'll find complete step-by-step instructions on how to remove all types of stains in the Removing Stains Manual.

Light colored spots that may also be dull are not stains. These are "etch marks" caused by acid corrosion.

For these you'll need to use SCP: Marble Polishing Paste if the marble is polished.

However, on honed (matte, non-reflective) marble the paste won't work. To remove etch marks on honed marble follow instructions in Removing Etch Marks Manual.

Good Luck,
Ryan

I highly recommend Stone Care Pro Products to maintain all your marble, stone and granite countertops and floors in optimal condition. I've used other good products (Stone Tech, Miracle, MB) but found Stone Care Pro is the most reliable and effective and cheaper too!
