Removeing Tape on Marble Window Sill

QUESTION

Hi: I have two sided tape on a marble window sill (to hold a cat window seat). How do I remove the tape? Someone told me to use fingernail polish remover???

ANSWER:

Do NOT use fingernail polish. Fingernail polish has acetone in it (which is safe for cleaning marble) but it also often has other ingredients that can damage and etch marble.

First, remove all tape by carefully using a razor blade at an angle to get tape off surface.

Then use straight acetone from the hardware store and a soft-bristle brush or cloth... nothing abrasive.
