Outdoor Kitchen Grill - Not Enough Heat

by Albert Chavez
(Folsom)

QUESTION:

I have a Jenn Air outdoor grill with 4 burners. Its 5 yrs old. I have replaced the 3 center burners last year because I was not getting enough heat or flame.

Is the gas line the main issue for not getting enough heat/flame from the burner--the max heat I am getting is 300 degrees. If its the line, how do I check? Or is this a potential for another issue that is not the line?

ANSWER:

Albert, I'd love to be able to give you a good answer, but I'm afraid this issue is a bit beyond my expertise.

Installing grills as part of your outdoor kitchen is something I can help you with. Problems with the grill itself is a question for the manufacturer most likely.

I would agree though that a line block could be part of the issue since the volume of gas available to burn will affect heat output.

Call a plumber and/or your local BBQ grill distributor to see about testing the line output. Could also be a problem with couplings, values and internal parts or gas lines within the grill before it gets to the burners.

Good Luck,
Ryan
