Marker Stain on Marble Table

QUESTION:

Without my knowledge my kids left blue marker stains on my white/gray marble kitchen table. How can I remove it? Thanks.

ANSWER:

To remove ink marker from a marble table you may need to make a poultice.

First, you can try cleaning with hydrogen peroxide or rubbing alcohol and a cloth.

If it doesn't work then use a poultice.

You'll need 12% (40 vol) hydrogen peroxide. Look online or at a beauty supply. The 3% from the store is typically too weak. And some talc/baby powder.

Mix the talc and peroxide into a paste like peanut butter. Apply to ink mark on marble about 1/2 inch think.

Cover with plastic wrap. Tape down edges with masking tape. Let sit for 24-48 hours.

Remove plastic wrap, but don't touch poultice. Remove only when rock hard. Clean area.

Hopefully ink is gone, but you may have to repeat the process or try alcohol with the poultice instead of peroxide.

Good Luck,
Ryan
