Marble vs Granite In Bathroom

by Anid
(Ohio)

QUESTION:

In a bathroom, which is a better choice marble or granite for a countertop?

ANSWER:

Depends what you mean by better. There are a few exceptions, but essentially granite will always be easier to care for.

Granite doesn't etch and it doesn't stain easy. Polished marble won't stain easy either, but it will etch.

But this is mostly an issue in the kitchen where many more acidic products are used.

In a bathroom marble will usually work just fine, but some everyday bathroom products like shaving cream, some toothpastes, nail and hair products, perfume can etch marble.

So, if it is a heavily used bathroom, then you may still want granite. If you really want marble, then use some decorative trays to keep potentially damaging products off the bathroom countertop.

Good Luck,
Ryan

granite countertop cleanerI highly recommend MB Stone Care Products to maintain all your marble, stone and granite countertops and floors in optimal condition. I've used other good products (Stone Tech, Miracle) but found MB Stone Care is the most reliable and effective.
