Marble Vanity Top Stain Removal

QUESTION:
I have stains around the sink area of my vanity top. They most likely got their from washing my face and the splash back contained traces of my make-up. I probably didn't dry the countertop properly. The counter is made of Crystal White marble. How do I remove these stains-HELP?? Thanks!
ANSWER:
Honestly, your explanation of how the stains occured doesn't sound very likely. You didn't describe what the stains looked like, so I can't offer any suggestions about how they occurred, but marble is not very porous and does not stain easy.
However, it does etch easy from acidic foods and products. Many people confuse etch marks with stains (thus the common, but incorrect assertion that marble stains easy), but they are completely different issues.
Granite and marble stains are always
darker and can be removed following the procedures outlined in the
Removing Granite & Marble Stains ebook.
Etch marks are light-colored dull spots and can be repaired on polished (shiny) marble using
SCP: Marble Polishing Paste.
Be sure you are using only
products safe for cleaning marble. Most common and/or brand-name cleaners will damage and etch marble.
Good Luck,
Ryan
