Marble Vanity Top Soap Stain

by Karen E Newmyer
(Palmyra, Pa USA)

QUESTION:

I have a ceramic soap dispenser sitting on the marble bathroom vanity which left a yellow stain. I can not remove this stain. Any suggestions?

ANSWER:

Most likely the oils in the soap have absorbed into the marble. Marble really is not very absorbent and doesn't stain real easy, but if a substance sits on the surface long enough it will absorb into the pores.

You'll be able to get it out pretty easy though using the procedures outlined in our Removing Stains Guide.

Since the stain is below the surface you can't "clean" it with a normal marble cleaner and definitely don't try any generic or grocery store cleaner... they will etch and damage the marble and will not remove the stain.

The procedures in the guide are very simple and low-cost although you may have to tweak the process a bit depending on what happens with the first go around.

It's all clearly and thoroughly explained though... you won't have a problem.

Good Luck,
Ryan
