Marble Vanity Top Mystery Marks

QUESTION:
We have a white marble top in our ensuite bath, it has several spots where something has left a stain. They are more noticeable on an angle. If there is some product available to clean the stains, where could one purchase it?
ANSWER:
Elizabeth, based on your description... 'more noticeable on an angle'... I'm betting that the marks are not "stains" where something has absorbed into the marble causing a darker spot. Rather they are probably "etch marks" where some substance has corroded the marble destroying the polish and leaving a dull spot that is more pronounced at an angle.
Etching occurs when an acidic substance (many bathroom products and foods) or an alkaline chemical (most cleaning products) contacts the surface and eats into the marble.
Marble is made of calcium carbonate, which reacts with acids, etc. There is nothing you can do to prevent this happening except avoid contact with acid/alkaline substances on the marble. Sealing has nothing to do with it.
You're in luck because most etch marks can be removed and the polish restored with a marble polishing powder. The shiny polish on marble is the result of a mechanical process and not some coating. The polishing powder works the surface to bring back the shine.
I recommend
MB-11 Marble Polishing Powder... follow link under "countertop care."
The MB-11 should do the trick, it's the best. If not, then you'll need to hire a marble restoration professional to re-polish the vanity.
Good Luck,
Ryan
