Marble Tub Surround Discoloration Stain

QUESTION:I have tile marble squares that surrount on the top only of by new jet bathtub. I am very careful with my marble counter tops and these tiles around the tub. I do not recall anything spilling or sitting on these marble polished tiles, but after coming home from 4 days away I noticed that one appears to have some of the color lighted.How or can you get the color back or would these tiles need to be completely removed and replaced? The tile next to it also appears to have some of the grain vein line look oranger than I remember or the other tiles look to have. What exactly does etching mean? These tiles are polished and when water from the tub splashes it beads up and is easly wiped off so I'm really mystified on what has happened to take the color lighter in one of the tiles in an odd shape. ANSWER:Well I can only go by what information you provide, but yes most likely something has etched the marble.Lighter-colored spots on marble are caused by etching, which is corrosion of the marble from contact with acidic and/or too alkaline substances, bath products, cleaning products, etc. Etching will also cause polished marble to look dull. So, light-colored dull spots is etching, which can be repaired using the Marble Polish / Etch Remover, which will restore the color and shine on polished marble (not honed). Good Luck, Ryan P.S.
