Marble Stain - Etching
QUESTION:
Hello- I have cup rings on my marble table and some other marks as well...Is there any way to get themm off?
ANSWER:
Cup rings and other dull/discolored spots are a common issue for cleaning marble. Many foods and drinks are acidic and most common cleaners are too harsh for marble.
What happens is the acidic drink or cleaner will corrode and eat away at the marble countertop or floor surface leaving a dull and
lighter-colored spot or ring.
From the picture it looks like you could have some etching, but since the ring is darker it could also be a "stain".
Stains and etching are two different marble maintenance issues. Marble really doesn't stain easy, but it will etch in seconds.
Sometimes you can get a stain on top of etching. When that occurs you need to remove the stain first. Consult the
Removing Granite & Marble Stains ebook for detailed step-by-step information about removing all types of marble stains.
To repair the etching we recommend using
SCP: Marble Polishing Paste to restore the color and shine. This is the best product available and made just for this purpose.
Good Luck,
