Marble Table Ball Point Pen Stain

QUESTION: Hi, my 1-year-old just got hold of a pen and made a few scribbles on my beautiful and treasured marble top table. I tried water and bounty to take it off (almost immediately) but to no avail. Any suggestions on how I get rid of these without spoiling my table?
Thanks!

ANSWER: First, I'd try to remove the ink stain with regular rubbing alcohol. Wet a soft cloth with the alcohol and rub the ink off.

If that doesn't work or not completely, then you'll need to make and apply a poultice to the marble stain.

In a stainless bowl, mix baby powder with rubbing alcohol into a paste the consistency of peanut butter. Using a wooden or plastic spatula, apply the poultice to the ink stain on the marble about 1/2" deep with a 1/4" border.

Cover the poultice with plastic wrap and seal all edges with masking tape.

Let it sit for 48 hours, then remove the plastic but don't disturb the poultice. Let it sit another 24 hours until it is bone dry, then scrape off with the wooden/plastic spatula.

Hopefully, it will draw the ink stain out with the first application, but you may have to apply the poultice to the marble a few times.

Comment back on your results and let me know how it worked out.

Good Luck,
Ryan
