Marble Stain on Vanity Top

QUESTION:

Well I had window clings on my daughters mirror and she set them down on her marble vanity top not knowing they would stain. I have no idea how to get this stain out!!!

ANSWER:

I have no idea what "window clings" are, but there are two types of "stain" on marble and one type is not really a stain.

Stains happen when something absorbs and turns the marble darker.

Etch marks occur when the marble comes in contact with an acidic food, drink or product or too harsh of a cleaner (nearly all common cleaners are too harsh for marble countertops). The etch marks damages the marble itself (nothing is absorbed) and makes the marble dull and lighter in color.

To remove a marble stain follow the instructions in the Removing Granite & Marble Stains e-book.

The correct method is determined by what did the staining, but all methods are included in the e-book.

To remove etch marks on shiny, polished marble use the ETCH REMOVER / Marble polishing paste made just for this purpose.

If the marble countertop finish is honed and not a shiny polish, then you can't use the above product, but you can fix it yourself in most cases following the directions in the Removing Etch Marks e-book.... or call in a marble cleaning and maintenance professional.
