marble spots from a cleaning product

QUESTION:
My cleaning lady used Scrubbing Bubbles Bathroom Cleaner on my brand new polished marble bathroom counter top. It is now spotted were the product was sprayed on it.
Additionally it has two or three rings where she sat a round water bottle on it when it was wet with the product. Can this mess be corrected?
ANSWER:
Yes it can. The cleaning product, like most store-bought household cleaners (whether name brand or generic) is damaging to marble.
Since many more people are installing marble and granite these days, major companies are coming out with products supposedly "for marble" but even many of these are still damaging... fyi.
What happened is the chemical "etched" the marble. Etching is a form of corrosion that physically eats into the marble removing the polished layer causing dull and sometimes discolored spots.
It happens on all marble no matter the finish, but it is most noticeable on polished marble.
But like I mentioned.....
You can repair it and restore the shine with
MB-11 Marble Polishing Powder. It's easy to use and designed specifically for this issue.
Probably not, but if the etch marks are severe, you may need professional restoration. But use the MB-11 first. Most often that will make it like new.
Good Luck,
Ryan
