Marble Shower Floor Turning White
by Juan Seliman

QUESTION:
It's been about a month since I had my whole bathroom redone. I had marble floor in the shower, which I chose not to be polished. When I had it installed it was a beautiful dark brown one, but now, its has begun to turn white. I'm certain it's not soap scum since I carefully rinse and wipe it off after every use. Is there anything I can do?
ANSWER:
What you are describing sounds exactly like soap scum and/or hard water build up.
Now you may be very diligent about wiping it down, but I can assure you that soap scum is an insidious little devil and will build up despite your best efforts.
In fact most people after cleaning marble showers, think it looks great until you look closer and realize that there is still soap scum on the tile. It's tough to clean without a specific cleaner for the problem.
Soap scum is not that noticeable unless you have dark tile.
Not much else it could be unless you are using a cleaning product that is not safe for marble. In that case it would etch the marble, which can make it look somewhat white.
So, be sure to use only
products safe for cleaning marble.
Otherwise, I'd recommend you use
PRISTINE Soap Film Remover. Spray on and let sit for 5-10 minutes then scrub with a soft-bristle brush.
It's a cheap experiment. If that doesn't do a thing, then I'd suggest getting your installer back out to take a look.
Good Luck,
Ryan
