Marble Entryway Cleaning

by Peter
(Newton, Mass USA)

QUESTION:

I have a covered entryway to my building (I am the Superintendent) that has stained over years of neglect and was wondering what, if anything I could try to clean it up.

The area is exposed to the elements and is only covered by an overhang the extends off the front of the building.

Thank you for any advice.

ANSWER:

Yes, you can get most stains out of marble unless they have been deeply embedded (like rusty water dripping for years in one spot).

It'll take some time and common cleaners won't be able to remove the stain.

Also, the procedure for removing marble stains varies depending on what did the staining, but you'll find complete step-by-step instructions in the Removing Stains Manual.

You may want to use INTENSIVE Concentrated Tile & Grout Cleaner first to remove as much surface grime as possible. This cleaner is very powerful yet still safe to use on marble. (Just FYI... most common cleaners will damage marble.)

Then you can attack the stains.

Good Luck,
Ryan

I highly recommend Stone Care Pro Products to maintain all your marble, stone and granite countertops and floors in optimal condition. I've used other good products (Stone Tech, Miracle, MB) but found Stone Care Pro is the most reliable and effective and cheaper too!
