Lime Stains on Bathroom Marble Vanity
QUESTION:
I have a blue marble bathroom vanity top. Don't know the name. It has some scratches in it that would be nice to fix but my main question is what to use to get what looks like lime stains removed-or else would it be this etching you describe above, ie it's particularly noticeable underneath where the hand soap dispenser sits (didn't know until reading your info that it should be on a tray).
All the products I look at state on label not to be used on marble. I have in the past applied a marble polish periodically but not recently because I don't know if that makes the problem with the lime worse. I would really appreciate your help because I have not found anyone who can give me this advice. Thanks.
ANSWER:
By "lime stains" I assume you are referring to the white, sometimes crusty hard water build-up... correct?
For this you'll need to use
PRISTINE Hard Water/Soap Film Remover, which is made specifically to be safe for cleaning marble unlike every other product for lime and hard water stains.
This is not etching (unless the stain is from a lime... as in fruit) and the soap dispenser does not need to be on a tray. Soap will not damage marble although it can build up and dull the shine.
Most likely water simply collect around and under the soap dispenser, so it may be a good idea to put the soap on a tray to minimize recurrence of the problem. But the lime and/or minerals from the water is the cause... not the soap.
But the PRISTINE will take care of both the hard water and any soapy build up... so great for the shower too.
For the scratches use
SCP: Marble Polishing Paste, which is a must-have marble maintenance product to remove and repair etch marks (spots from acids and harsh cleaners) and light scratches.
Good Luck,
Ryan
