Kaboom on Marble Coffee Table

by Doug
(N. J.)

QUESTION:

I just bought a new marble coffee table 9 days ago, it looks great or should I say it did. I bought some household supplies today and brought them back home and set the first load on the table. Went to get more and when I got back my daughter said "Dad we have a leak in something." It turned out it was the Kaboom shower cleaner.

To keep this short, the finish on the new marble coffee table has a BIG mark at the place that the bag was set down. This is the first piece of marble I ever bought. Can someone please tell me what I can do to fix / repair the table?

ANSWER:

Doug, you or rather the Kaboom has "etched" your marble table.

Marble is sensitive to acidic foods/drinks and to alkaline cleaners. If these contact the marble, they will corrode the surface removing the shiny layer leaving a dull and sometimes discolored spot.

So, always use coasters on this table.

Not to worry though because etch marks (unless very severe and rough) can be removed using SCP- Marble Polishing Paste.

This paste is easy to use, will remove the spot and restore the shine and color. Good for scratches too.

For general cleaning be sure to use only products safe for cleaning marble.

I highly recommend Stone Care Pro Products to maintain all your marble, stone and granite countertops and floors in optimal condition. I've used other good products (Stone Tech, Miracle, MB) but found Stone Care Pro is the most reliable and effective and cheaper too!
