Italian Marble Water Ring Stains & Cleaning Questions

by Michelle
(Las Vegas, NV)

QUESTION:

I have a very light blonde or golden swirl color ITALIAN MARBLE TILE which has a few water rings and I also have no idea if its sealed or needs to be.

How do I care for them and I also noticed a few sheer cracks like it been made into the marble and it like this all over, the thing is that there are a lot worse areas. Does Italian marble crack easy? Michelle

ANSWER:

The water rings are "etch marks" from contact with acidic foods and drinks like coffee, soda, juice, etc.

These are not stains and sealing does not prevent this. You should use coasters under all drinks.

To remove etch marks, you'll need a good polishing compound like Stone Care Marble Polishing Paste.

Marble can crack when too much weight or force is used, especially tile since it is thin. You can replace them or fill open cracks with epoxy. If they are just hairline cracks, I wouldn't worry about them.

You can test your marble to see if it needs to be sealed.

If so, then I recommend Stone Care Pro or SenGuard Sealers.

Good Luck,
Ryan

I highly recommend Stone Care Pro Products to maintain all your marble, stone and granite countertops and floors in optimal condition. I've used other good products (Stone Tech, Miracle) but found Stone Care Pro is the most reliable and effective.
