How to remove white rings from black marble buffet?

QUESTION:
Hi, we have a buffet with a black marble (tiles, but not grouted)top. Never having had marble before, we didn't realize that it developed spots and rings so easily. I am on 02, and am somewhat sensitive to some cleaners. We are hosting 2 large parties and I would like to clean the spots off of the surface. Any quick tips? Shirley & Greg
ANSWER:
The white rings are the result of contact with and acidic drink. Marble is reactive with acids and too high alkaline cleaners (which is most household cleaners).
The acid corrodes the marble leaving dull and lighter-colored spots like a chemical burn and is a known issue for cleaning marble.
Good news is that you can repair etch marks on polished marble using
SCP: Marble Polishing Paste, which is specially formulated to quickly restore the shine and color.
As the name implies, this marble maintenance product is a paste, not a spray, so I'd imagine you wouldn't have any respiratory reaction to it.
Etching is a nuisance for marble countertops in high use areas like a kitchen or other areas like wet bars with lots of exposure to acidic foods and drinks. Which is why marble is not a good choice for kitchen countertops or wet bars.
On a buffet you should be able to eliminate this problem easily enough and avoid contact with acidic foods and drinks by using coasters, trivets, place mats and by using only
products safe for cleaning marbleYou can learn all about proper marble cleaning from one of our
