How To Remove Marble Water Marks
by Frank
(Philadelphia)
QUESTION:
Looks like water marks but will not come off looks like the finish is off but still feels smooth not ruf to the touch. Marble is white in color with black veins in it.
ANSWER:
Frank, what you have is a simple case of "etching". The marks you see were not caused by water.
Marble will react to acidic foods, drinks, and products to cause such spots.
It does look like the finish or polish has come off because it has!
When an acidic substance contacts the marble it eats into the marble removing the polished layer leaving a dull, light-colored spot.
Good news is that etch marks on polished marble can be easily removed (especially when spots are still smooth) using
SCP: Marble Polishing Paste.
Very easy to use and a little goes a long way. This paste will restore the polish on the spots and will even spruce up the rest of your marble countertop!
In the future use coasters for drinks and set products onto decorative trays rather than right on the marble.
Also, use only
products safe for cleaning marble.
Good Luck,
Ryan
