How To Polish Marble

QUESTION:
Polishing marble?
ANSWER:
I assume you are asking how to make dull marble shiny... well, it depends. If you have marble that has a "honed" or "tumbled" finish rather than a "polished" finish, then you'll need to hire a pro to re-surface the marble.
The shine on marble is not from the application of some chemical. Polishing marble is achieved via intense friction using big machines and/or an experienced pro with diamond abrasives.
So, if your marble was never polished or shiny in the first place there is nothing YOU can do to make it so. Hire a pro.
However, once marble has been polished to a shine, the shine can be restored when mildly damaged by acidic food, drinks or because the wrong cleaning products were used.
Marble is sensitive to such substances, which will destroy the shiny surface layer leaving it dull.
If this is the case, you can bring back the shine and color using a good compound like
SCP- Marble Polishing Paste.
Very easy to use... just rub on the dull etched area.
If the entire surface has been etched severely by repeated use of damaging cleaning products, then you may have to hire a pro in this instance as well.
