Green Cleaning Pad Scratched Marble Table

QUESTION:
I used a green kithen pad and soapy water to clean the table top very lightly as it seemed sticky. The marble is a decorative high polish, I did this once... have I ruined the finish?
ANSWER:
Yes, you ruined the finish by scratching it with the abrasive green kitchen cleaning pad... but it can be repaired.
Marble is much softer than granite and can be scratched, which is why abrasive products and pads should not be used for cleaning marble.
You'll need to use the
ETCH REMOVER / Marble polishing paste to fix the scratches and restore the shiny surface finish.
And in the future....
Use only products safe for cleaning marble should be used with a soft cloth for travertine, limestone or marble cleaning.
And just FYI... most soaps will not damage marble (although some can produce etch marks), but are not recommended for cleaning marble or stone on a regular basis since soap scum will build up (no matter how much rinsing you do) just like in the shower, which will dull the surface and require extra cleaning and maintenance.
Good Luck,
Ryan
