Grease Staining On Tumbled Marble Backsplash
QUESTION:
Do we need to be concerned about grease on tumbled marble backsplash? Do we need to be consider this factor and not only water? Can this be cleaned on tumbled marble i.e. around stove area? And, therefore, need to seal tumbled marble backsplash for both reasons?
ANSWER:
A backsplash does not have a high risk of staining, however, it will be exposed to grease and food splatter, so it is certainly possible to stain.
Yes, it can be cleaned and since splatters usually are very small amounts of liquid the marble doesn't have much to absorb. Thus, splatters are typically cleaned easily.
Of course, you should use only
products safe for cleaning marble.
Even so, it's usually a good idea to seal a tumbled marble backsplash, since tumbled marble is more absorbent than polished marble is. Sealing is easy and backsplashes are small areas.
We recommend
SenGuard & Stone Sentry Sealers.
