Etching on Katni Marble

QUESTION:

I have recently done Katni marble flooring and now got some etches as if some acidic material must have spilled there. Please help me to know how to get rid of these etches and which surface cleaning material will be best for Katni stone in India...Thanks!

ANSWER:

Sounds like you know about etching of marble, which can occur upon contact with an acidic substance. Etch marks are dull and often lighter in color.

In the US and Canada you can use the Marble Polish / Etch Remover to quickly restore the color and shine on polished marble.

Unfortunately, this product is not available in India. You may contact a local stone warehouse to see if a such a product exists in your country.

You may have to hire an experience marble maintenance craftsman to grind down and re-finish the damaged area.

However, if your marble floor is honed (matte, non-shiny surface) then you can fix this yourself following the instructions in the Removing Etch Marks ebook.
