Etched Marble Tile Bar Top

by Janice Brewer
(Moore, Oklahoma)

QUESTION:

I have a heavy ornate beautiful bar with a marble tile top. My bar top has an etched area and also a clouded area. What is the best way to solve this?

ANSWER:

The clouded area is likely more marble etching. Alcohol, mixers, sodas, juices, etc. are acidic so you'll continue to get etch marks with a marble bar top (vs granite which does not etch).

Storing things on trays and using coasters will help, but only avoiding contact acids will prevent etching on marble countertops.

Although commonly suggested, sealing will not prevent etching and has to do with it since etching is physical damage to the marble and not a stain.

Thankfully though you can use Marble Polish / Etch Remover on polished (not honed) marble, travertine and limestone to restore the color and shine.

It's made just for this purpose and very easy to use.

Good Luck,
Ryan

I've used many good products (Stone Tech, Miracle, MB) but found others more reliable, effective and cheaper too!
