Dull Marble Table From Walmart Polish

QUESTION:I have a marble table Just bought it some months ago. It got stained with water marks and I went to Walmart and bought a product from Weiman Co named "granite and marble polish" I used on my table and guess what it lost all the shiny finish. After I finished appliying the product it was kind of wet so it looked nice but as soon as it dried my table became dull. Is there something I can do to restore the brightness?? Please helpANSWER:Many products on the market that say "marble polish" are only topical dressings meant to enhance the shine a bit, but they won't repair "water spots" "glass-rings" and etch marks that occur from contact with acidic foods, drinks and using the wrong marble maintenance products for cleaning marble.The other thing is that many products that say "for marble" are not very good. Many companies have jumped on the bandwagon as more and more homeowners are installing stone in their homes by slapping new labels on old standard cleaners that may damage marble. I'm not saying this specifically about the product you mention, but many are out there that I would not recommend. To restore the shiny polish on your marble table use SCP: Marble Polishing Paste, which is made specifically for this very purpose... to repair dull etch marks.
