Dull Marble Shower Wall From Silica

by Pat Brandt
(Ridgefield, WA)

QUESTION:

The marble on the wall of my shower has been dulled by the silica in our water. It can't be removed with acid obviously. What do you suggest to restore the shine?

ANSWER:

Pat, if I understand you correctly you have a build-up of silica on the wall that is causing your marble to look dull.

If so, then PRISTINE Hard Water/Soap Film Remover is excellent for removing this.

For best results you need to spray on and let it soak in for 5 to 10 minutes. Of course, it is specially formulated to be safe for marble.

However, if you are stating that the marble itself has been worn down from the silica and is now dull, then a good marble polishing compound like Stone Care Marble Polishing Paste will get the shine back.

If the marble is severely worn, dull and getting rough though, you may need to hire a pro to re-surface the marble.

Certainly try the PRISTINE and/or the Polishing Paste first, but if it comes to professional restoration, you may consider having the stone honed so there is no shine to get dull.

Good Luck,
Ryan

I highly recommend Stone Care Pro Products to maintain all your marble, stone and granite countertops and floors in optimal condition. I've used other good products (Stone Tech, Miracle, MB) but found Stone Care Pro is the most reliable and effective and cheaper too!
