Curling Iron Burn

by Julie
(Maryland Heights, MO )

QUESTION:

What do I need to use to remove a curling iron burn on my marble vanity?

I appreciate the help.

ANSWER:

Well, it depends on whether the marble is polished or honed. Given it's a vanity, I'd bet it's polished (shiny), which is harder to deal with.

The burn is physical damage to the marble. The damaged marble must be removed in order to remove the burn mark. No product exists to spray on, wipe off or otherwise remove the burn easily.

Removing the damaged marble and burn mark will also remove the polished layer creating a dull spot.

The polish on your marble vanity is created with diamond abrasives to smooth out the surface and the same process may be needed to repair and restore the shine in this case.

So.... a marble restoration professional will most likely be required if you want to restore the shine without any noticeable mark.

However, if the burn is not too severe, you can live with a much less noticeable blemish and/or you have a honed marble countertop (much easier to fix in this case) then the detailed step-by-step solutions provided in our Marble Cleaning Secrets Manual will work just fine.

Good Luck!
