Coloring White Marble Vanity Tops

by Cheryl

QUESTION:

I have white marble vanity tops and I would like to change the color without replacing them. Since there are stains for garage floors and everything else lately, is there anything for these tops available?

ANSWER:

Well what do you know... I've never been asked this question before and I've never purposely tried to stain marble, so honestly I don't have a good answer for you.

I imagine a concrete stain would be a place to start, but no matter what you use the results could be a complete surprise. The stain will probably not absorb evenly... if at all.

White marble, especially if polished is not very absorbent. Certainly if you left a stain on the surface a long time, it will absorb, but you may just ruin what you have without achieving the results you want.

Sounds like a gamble to me. To each his own, but white marble is classic and so pretty, I wouldn't mess with it.

Good Luck,
Ryan
