Cleaning Marble White Stain

QUESTION:

How can I clean a big white stain on my marble counter top?

ANSWER:

By "white" stain I take it you mean the stain is lighter in color than the rest of the marble countertop.... that it looks kind of milky.

This is not a true stain. A stain occurs when a substance is absorbed into the marble. "Stains" are always darker than the marble.

A lighter spot is actually what's called "etching." This is completely different than a true stain.

What has happened is that an acidic food or drink or alkaline product (most cleaning products) has contacted the marble and corroded the surface.

Nothing has been absorbed. It is physical damage to the surface of the countertop.

If the marble is polished (I'm assuming it is), then you'll need MB-11 Marble Polishing Powder.

This compound is easy to use and will repair the damaged/etched area.

Good Luck,
Ryan
