Cleaning Marble Sink Lysol Stain

by Jaye
(Dallas, Texas)

QUESTION:

Brown Lysol bathroom cleaner was used to clean a marble bathroom sink. As a direct result the sink now has a horrible brown stain. Please help, stain removal is very much desired.

ANSWER:

First I'd fill the sink with hydrogen peroxide and let it soak. Then scrub the sink with hydrogen peroxide and a soft-bristle brush. That should help quite a bit.

If the stain is still present, then you'll have to apply a poultice.

For a poultice you'll need to buy 12% hydrogen and talc powder. The HP you can get at a beauty supply store or order online at our products page.

Mix the talc and HP into a peanut butter paste. Apply the poultice to the stain about 1/2 thick. Cover with plastic wrap and seal the edges with masking tape. Let it sit 24 hours. Remove the plastic, but leave the poultice for another day until it's hard.

Remove the poultice and clean with hot water. The poultice will draw any stain out, but you may have to repeat the process a couple-few times.

Good Luck,
Ryan

granite countertop cleanerI highly recommend MB Stone Care Products to maintain all your marble, stone and granite countertops and floors in optimal condition. I've used other good products (Stone Tech, Miracle) but found MB Stone Care is the most reliable and effective.
