Cleaning Marble Shower Mildew

by Mandy
(Chicago)

QUESTION:

We have a marble tile shower surround. What's the best way to clean it? I've noticed mold and mildew building up, does a stone cleaner work well for this?

ANSWER:

A general stone or marble cleaner is fine for regular cleaning, but if you have mold and mildew then this Bathroom MOLD & MILDEW Remover

A mild bleach and water solution will work also, but repeated use may dull/etch a polished surface, so best to use the Bathroom MOLD & MILDEW Remover.

With regular cleaning you really shouldn't get mildew, unless you have poor ventilation or possibly water is getting behind the tile via cracks or gaps in the grout and/or caulk.

Thoroughly inspect your marble shower surround and make any repairs necessary. Also, using a squeegee to remove excess water post-shower and leaving the shower door cracked open will help things dry out faster.

Good Luck,
Ryan
