Cleaning Marble Shower Mildew and Soap Scum

by Connie
(Vonore, TN, USA)

QUESTION:

My shower is made of tumbled marble. How do I clean off any mold/mildew that accumulates. How do I clean off soap scum?

ANSWER:

Cleaning marble shower soap scum can be difficult since soap scum tends to be stubborn. You need a product that not only will effectively remove soap scum, but is also safe marble cleaning.

We highly recommend using the Hard Water / Soap Scum Remover on this page (click link).

Works best to spray on and let soak for 5-10 minutes and then scrub with a soft-bristle brush. Excellent for crusty hard water deposits too.

Bathroom mildew can be cleaned using this Bathroom Mold & Mildew Remover that is also the best we've used and of course, like all products we recommend, it won't damage or etch marble.

If bathroom mildew consistently returns, then you need to make sure you are cleaning marble shower often enough. Regularly cleaning marble showers (at least 2x/month... once/week is best) will keep mildew and mold from ever developing.

If you are cleaning often enough and still get mildew, then you must consider that water is getting trapped in between or behind tiles because of voids or cracks in the grout.

Good Luck,
Ryan

See which products I recommend as the best for cleaning marble, travertine & marble maintenance, cleaning granite countertops, granite sealers and keeping all your stone and floors in optimal condition. I've used many good products (Stone Tech, Miracle, MB) but found others more reliable, effective and cheaper too!
