Black Marble Vanity Top Spot

QUESTION:
I used a Sealer that said it was for Marble, however after applying it I noticed it had a vinigerie smell and you can see where I sprayed it out of the bottle. I tried the solution of Baking Soda paste to one of the spots and let it dry over night but that did NOT work. Asking for help please.
ANSWER:
Well chuck the "sealer" that you were using. Whatever it is has etched (not stained) your marble.
Etching is a chemical burn... corrosion of the marble surface leaving dull and light-colored spots.
Stains are substances that have absorbed into the marble causing darker-colored spots.
Sealing (when needed) can help prevent stains, but not etch marks.
To repair the etch marks on
polished marble use
SCP: Marble Polishing Paste to restore the shine and color.
Then be sure to use coasters, trivets, trays and shelves for storing products and to keep acidic foods, drinks and products from etching the marble again.
Also, be sure to use only
products safe for cleaning marble.
Most common cleaners, brand-name household products, etc. will damage marble.
And perform the
water test for sealing to determine if your marble vanity even needs sealing. Marble is actually not very porous and many polished marbles are nearly stain-proof and should not be sealed.
Good Luck,
Ryan
