Black Marble Bathroom Floor Spots

by Jackie Whitlege
(Madisonville, KY)

QUESTION:

I have a black marble floor in one of my bathrooms and at the entrance of my front door. There are dull spots all over the floor. I cannot get it off at all. The marble has lost it's shine. Is there anything I can use to get the spots off?

ANSWER:

If it were just a spot or two I'd say use MB-11 Marble Polish to re-buff the marble, but it sounds like the job is more extensive and will require professional re-surfacing.

Is this a wear pattern or did some substance get on the floor? A polished marble floor will wear down with use and need periodic re-polishing... or you could have it honed to decrease the maintenance in this regard.

If some kind of chemical (maybe a cleaner) got on the marble then it may be "etched." Acidic food/products and most cleaning products will react with marble and eat away the polished layer leaving a dull spot.

Try the MB-11 polish, but know that it may take a pro.

Good Luck,
Ryan

granite countertop cleanerI highly recommend MB Stone Care Products to maintain all your marble, stone and granite countertops and floors in optimal condition. I've used other good products (Stone Tech, Miracle) but found MB Stone Care is the most reliable and effective.
