Antique Marble Table Top Stain
QUESTIONS:
I have an antique bureau with a white marble top. There is a stain on it and I need to clean it.
ANSWER:
First, you need to determine what type of "stain" you have.
If the spot is darker than the rest of the marble, then you'll need to follow the step-by-step instructions in the
Removing Stains Manual.
True stains occur when something absorbs into the marble pores below the surface.
If however, the "stain" is
lighter and/or dull compared to the rest of the marble, then you have an "etch mark," which is not a stain, but the result of corrosion from contact with an acidic substance, food, drink.
If you have an etch mark, then a good marble polishing compound like
SCP- Marble Polishing Paste will remove the mark, restore the color and shine.
Note, that many products say "marble polish," but most are topical dressings only and will not repair etching.
Either way... stain or etch mark... you'll likely be able to completely remove the spot.
Good Luck,
Ryan
